In this video Michael talks us through this beautiful English Antique walnut Hall Stand.
English Antique Walnut Hall Stand
Hi. Here we have a typical English walnut hall stand made around - circa 1890. This hall stand's made in the traditional style. It's a very well constructed hall stand, very solid.
You have the typical beveled mirror, a lovely little shelf for putting your little bits and pieces on, a traditional glove box, and the two pans for your umbrellas and walking sticks and whatever other utilities you want to use it for.
The more typical English hall stands do have lovely late Victorian tiles, of which this is a very good example. So we have very very attractive late Victorian tiles which are in very very attractive colours and very pertinent to today. And, of course, a very good quality brass hooks there, which are in wonderful original condition.
The overall piece is in what we would call in the trade very good original condition, in other words, it retains the original polish, shows it's age, but still in very very good condition.
