A Stunning Large French Art Nouveau Female Bronze Sculpture

A fabulous signed Georges Van Der Straeten  (1856-1928) large French Art Nouveau bronze sculpture of a woman playing the lyre with foundry marks in very good condition. Van Der Straeten was born in 1857 in Belgium. He studied law by day and sculpted in his off time. His love for the art of sculpting soon overtook his studies, and he became a professional sculptor. By 1878 he was one of Brussels most prolific sculptors. He moved to Paris on the advice of his friend and renowned painter, Jan Van Beers. He soon became well known for his sculptures of beautiful Parisian women, as well as busts of contemporary luminaries.
