Movement by Adolphe Mougin (1848-1928) – Famous French clockmaker
Terra Sculpture by Charles Anfrie (1833-?) – French sculptor
Globe by Emile Bertaux – (1840-1903) – French astronomer, took over a large part of the publishing house Delamarche in 1870
Back plate signed ‘AD Mougin’ and numbered ‘498233’ as well as signed in the cast ‘Anfrie’, globe inscribed ‘E. Bertaux Editeur Rue Serpente 25 Paris’; front with brass label ‘La Terre par Anfrie (Sculptr)’
Circular brass movement, spring driven, lever escapement
Half-hour strike on bell, knife-edge suspension, short brass pendulum
Enamel dial with Arabic indices, outer minute ring, blackened hands, gold-plated, pierced fronton, glazed bezel
Stepped granite base with four gold-plated floral feet
Rising above the base is a female figure "Terra", the allegoric personification of planet earth, in upright position, in her left raised hand she is carrying a terrestrial globe, next to her a stump of a column upon which a putto is sitting
Terrestrial globe with 12 lithographed paper segments and French labeled map picture
A winding key is included
